I am a graduate of FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami, Florida. I moved from Haiti when I was 12 years old. I speak French, Haitian Creole and Spanish. I enjoyed the Step 1 studying process and took the exam in 2018, followed shortly by Step 2 CK - and CS, which existed at the time. I have been coaching and tutoring since 2023, and I find it rewarding. I am licensed for general practice in Florida, after having passed Step 2 and completed internships in both Internal medicine and Pediatrics. I played tennis competitively growing up, and intramural basketball in college.
Learning medicine- and passing licensing exams- requires following a deliberate process. I help students break down complex concepts, assess what they know, and from there, build a plan that allows for the right amount of repetition. The UWorld question bank is a great learning tool, if purposely used. I am familiar with most of the questions and I have developed ways to group them (using the UWQIDs) in a logical manner. Once I learn about the student's individual circumstances, we develop a plan together. The goal is to do questions in the order that will maximize learning. It is becoming possible to target student's weaknesses with precision thanks to AI. For example, I made this ChatGPT bot . On the other end, I also help students develop a mindset that keeps them moving forward. With an curious outlook, students can appreciate how everything is inter-connected. An experienced tutor should help you develop thinking frameworks and skills that, once the MCQs are gone, you will rely on to elicit the right information, and synthesize your differential diagnoses.
