Who I am and how I help

About Me

I am a graduate of FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami, Florida. I moved from Haiti when I was 12 years old. I speak French, Haitian Creole and Spanish. I enjoyed the Step 1 studying process and took the exam in 2018, followed shortly by Step 2 CK - and CS, which existed at the time. I have been tutoring since 2023, and I find it rewarding. I am licensed for general practice in Florida, after having passed Step 3 and completed internships in both Internal medicine and Pediatrics. I played tennis competitively growing up, and intramural basketball in college.

Teaching Philosophy

Learning medicine- and passing licensing exams- requires following a deliberate process. I help students break down complex concepts, assess what they know, and from there, build a plan that allows for the right amount of repetition. The UWorld question bank is a great learning tool, if purposely used. I am familiar with most of the questions and I have developed ways to group them  (using the UWQIDs) in a logical manner. Once I learn about the student's individual circumstances, we develop a plan together. The goal is to do questions in the order that will maximize learning.  It is becoming possible to target student's weaknesses with precision thanks to AI. For example, I made this ChatGPT bot . On the other end, I also help students develop a mindset that keeps them moving forward.  With an curious outlook, students can appreciate how everything is inter-connected, and start identifying what details need to be memorized and what needs to be understood.  An experienced tutor should help you develop thinking frameworks and skills that, once the MCQs are gone, you will rely on to elicit the right information, and synthesize your differential diagnoses.
